Conversion of fractions into decimals when the denominator is not a multiple of 10

  • for converting a fraction whose denominator is not a multiple of 10 , first convert the given fraction into an equivalent fraction with denominator as a multiple of 10
  • Then , convert the equivalent fraction into the decimal by placing the decimal point starting from the extreme right before as many digits as the number of zeros after 1 in the denominator.

The conversion of the fraction into equivalent fraction is : 78=7×1258×125=8751000 .

Now , the decimal representation of the equivalent fraction is : 8751000=0.875.

Thus , the decimal representation of the given fraction is 0.875 .
