Solution

The correct option is B N>P>As>Sb>Bi
Ionization energy of nitrogen is very high and this is due to its small size. As we go down the group, the atomic size of elements (of group 15) increases. With the increase in size, the valence electrons tend to be loosely held by the nucleus as the distance between the nucleus and the valence electron also increases. Further, with the increase in atomic number, the number of protons and the number of electrons also increase. This gives rise to the screening or shielding effect of the inner electrons, which lower the electrostatic attraction between the valence electrons and the nucleus. Hence, as we descend the group, the energy required to remove a valence electron decreases gradually.
