(a) Composting:-

  1. The process by which the remains of vegetables and animal wastes such as cattle excreta, feces of human beings, etc., are decomposed in pits is known as composting.
  2. The compost is rich in organic matter and nutrients.
  3. The compost can also be prepared by using earthworms to fasten the process of decomposition of remains of plants and animals.

(b) Pyrolysis:-

  1. Pyrolysis is the anaerobic combustion of organic waste at a temperature of 16500C.
  2. The pyrolysis undergoes a chemical decomposition reaction and breaks down into multiple product compounds.
  3. The production of ethylene and other important carbon compounds from coal and petroleum through the process of pyrolysis.
  4. The pyrolysis process is helpful in the formation of charcoal.
