(a) Melting point: The temperature at which the state of a substance changes from solid to liquid is called melting point of that substance. For example, the melting point of ice is 0oC.
(b) Boiling point: The temperature at which the state of a substance changes from liquid to gas is called boiling point of that substance. For example, the boiling point of water is 100oC.
(c) Distillation: The process by which a liquid is first heated up to its boiling point and then its vapours are cooled to obtain back the liquid again is called distillation.
