Solution

Acids:

  • An acid is a substance in which the only positive ion is hydrogen.

Oxyacids:

  • Acids containing oxygen, hydrogen, and one more element are called Oxyacids.
  • For example, Nitric acid HNO3.
  • The majority of nonmetallic covalent oxides react with water to generate acidic oxides, and they react with water to form Oxyacids, which leads to the formation of Hydronium ions H3O+ in solution.
  • The chemical equation for the reaction of Nitric acid with water is as follows

HNO3aq+H2OlNO3-aq+H3O+aq
