Question

Define electric current. What is the conventional direction of electric current?

Open in App
Solution

Dear student,

The directed flow of negative charges (i.e. electrons) through a wire is called an electric current. The rate of flow of charge(electrons) .

I=Q/t , I=Electric current , Q=ne that is number of electrons ,t=time
The conventional direction of electric current is always from the positive to the negative terminal. However, in reality, the electrons flow from negative (lower potential) to positive (higher potential) terminal.
