Degradation of energy is defined as the situation where the transformation of energy into any form results in its less availability to do the said work.
Hence, it is the gradual decrease of useful energy.
Two examples are as follows:
A large part of electrical energy is wasted in the form of heated energy when electrical appliances run off electricity.
A large part of heat energy from the fuel is given out when food is cooked over fire. The liberated energy is of no use, instead causes pollution.
