Fission:

Fission refers to the splitting of organisms into two or more daughter cells from a single parent cell. In organisms two types of fission are seen:

  1. Binary fission: It involves the splitting of a parent cell into two daughter cells. Eg: Amoeba.
  2. Multiple fission: It involves the splitting of a parent cell into more than two daughter cells. Eg: Plasmodium.
