Define force and pressure. What do you do to get maximum pressure with a minimum force? Name at least one appliance based on this principle.

Solution

Force is a push or pull on an object while pressure is force per unit area, $(P = F / A)$ .
Since pressure is directly proportional to acting force and inversly proportional to the area on which the force acts, we can maximise the pressure by minimising the area.
Sharp knife, pointed nails are based on this principle.
