Melting point:

  1. If a substance is solid, the constant temperature at which the substance changes from solid state to liquid state at normal atmospheric pressure is called melting point of the given solid.
  2. At the melting point the solid and liquid phase exist in equilibrium.

Boiling point:

  1. Boiling point is the constant temperature at which a liquid changes into gaseous state.
  2. The boiling point of liquid varies depending upon the surrounding pressure.
