Define pneumatopores with example.

  1. Pneumatophores are the specialized roots found in halophytes.
  2. Halophytes grow in the area where the concentration of salt is high.
  3. The due to salt concentration the roots are unable to breathe so some of the roots come out of the soil to get sufficient oxygen for the plant.
  4. These roots posses several tiny pores on their surface, by which they can intake oxygen and release carbon dioxide. These pores are called lenticel.
  5. They are found in Mangroves plants.
