Define salt.

Open in App
Solution

A salt is an ionic compound that results from neutralization reaction of an acid and a base. Salts are composed of cations (positively charged ions) and anions (negative ions) so that the product is electrically neutral (without a net charge). We can also define salts as any chemical compound formed from the reaction of an acid with a base, with all or part of the hydrogen of the acid replaced by a metal or another cation.
