Solution : Differentiate between a dilute solution and a concentrated solution

Solution :

  • Solution is defined as the homogenous mixture of solute and solvent. For example, sugar and water solution is the homogenous mixture of sugar (solute ) and water ( solvent ).

Solute :

  • The component of solution which is present in lesser amount is called solute. For example, in salt water solution, salt is the solute as it is present in lesser amount than water.

Solvent :

  • The component of solution that is present in greater amount is called solvent. For example, in sugar water solution, water is solvent as it is present in greater amount than salt.
