Solution

Solubility: The amount of solute soluble in 100 ml of water at a particular temperature.

the condition that affects the formation of a solution

Nature of the solute and solvent

  • the solution is formed only when the solute is soluble in a solvent like salt are soluble in water but not in alcohol
  • similarly, nail polish is soluble in alcohol but not in water.

Temperature

  • generally, solubility increases when temperature increases.
  • gases are dissolved more easily at lower temperatures therefore solution forms more easily at lower temperatures

Pressure

  • solubility increases at a higher temperature
  • soft drinks are bottled at a high temperature so more carbon dioxide dissolves easily.

Stirring

stirring improves the interaction between solute and solvent which helps solution formation.
