  2. It is denoted by m.

m=h'h, where h' is the height of the image and h is the height of the object.

3. In terms of object distance u and image distance v, magnification (m) is given by,

m=-vu

4. If Ifm>1,, the Image size is greater than that of the object and if m<1,the image size is less than the object size.

5. If magnification is negative, the image formed is real and inverted.

6. If magnification is positive, the image formed is virtual and erect.
