Define the term redox reaction.

Open in App
Solution

  • Redox reactions are the reactions in which both oxidation and reduction take place simultaneously.

Example:

PbO(s)Leadoxide+H2(g)HydrogenPb(s)Lead+H2O(l)Water

  • Here hydrogen is oxidized to water and lead oxide is reduced to lead.
  • Hence this is a redox reaction.
