A gas is a state of matter which has no definite shape and no definite volume.
Gases are highly compressible because the intermolecular distances between the molecules of gas are very large as a result the force of attraction between the molecules is negligible.
Molecules of a gas have very large kinetic energy and free to move in all directions.
That is why gases are highly compressible.
