  1. We know that the earth attracts all bodies towards itself due to the gravitational force or gravity.
  2. The force of attraction depends on the mass of the body.
  3. The more the mass, the greater the attraction between the body and the earth.
  4. The weight of a body is the force with which the earth attracts the body towards its center.
  5. It is the measure of gravitational pull on the body and hence it varies with the gravitational pull.

where,

W = weight of the object m = mass of the object

g = acceleration due to gravity(= 9.8 m s- 2)
