Question

Define zero of a polynomial.

Open in App
Solution

Zero of Polynomial:

For a polynomial, there could be some values of the variable for which the polynomial will be zero. In mathematical terms, the zeros of the polynomial p(x) are all the value of x that make the polynomial equals to zero. Theses values of x are called zero of a polynomial. For eg.

p(x)=x2-5x+6

For x=2, we have

p(2)=4-10+6p(2)=10-10p(2)=0

Hence, x=2 is zero of the polynomial p(x)=x2-5x+6.
