Apomixis is the type of asexual reproduction. It is a method of production of seed without meiosis and syngamy. It is a cheaper and cost effective method of producing hybrid seeds. It is easy to maintain hybrid characters intact as characters segregate during meiosis. It prevents the loss of specific characters in the hybrid. It also helps in producing individuals with desired qualities in more numbers. The offsprings produced are exact replica of mother plant.
