There are different disorders which affect the respiratory system.
1. Obstructive disorder: The diameter of the bronchi becomes narrower and this blocks the airway. The common obstructive disorders are asthma, bronchitis, etc. There is difficulty in breathing.
2. Tuberculosis: This is the bacterial infection of the lungs by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The disease cause formation of nodules in the lungs and the other respiratory surfaces. This results in the formation of pus and mucus which blocks the airway.
3. Respiratory tract infections: Common cold, tonsillitis, sinusitis, etc may result in the infection of the upper respiratory tract. The bacteria causing pneumonia may result in the infection of the lower respiratory tract.
