Describe how is biogas generated from activated sludge. Mention its composition.

The biogas is made of methane, hydrogen sulfide, and carbon dioxide gases.

It is generated through the following steps-
1. The small part of the activated sludge is passed back into the aeration tank where aerobic microbes develop on.
2. The major part of the activated sludge is passed on to the anaerobic sludge digester, where the anaerobic bacteria digest the organic matter, and the aerobic bacteria and fungi to form biogas.
