Rajaraja Chola and Rajendra Chola were the famous kings of the Chola dynasty.

1. Rajaraja Chola; He was a brave and efficient administrator. His Empire included the regions towards the south of river Tungabhadra, Srilanka and Maldive islands. He had a powerful land army and navy. His major contribution includes the construction of the Bruhadeshwara temple.
   
2. Rajendra Chola: He was the son of RajarajaChola. He captured regions in North India and it was his prominent achievement. He assumed the title ‘Gangaikonda’ in memory of this conquest. He developed a new capital by the name ‘Gangaikonda Cholapuram’ and built a very big temple of Shiva. He built a tank called ‘Cholagangam’ for the purpose of irrigation to the capital.
