Sieving – The method by which the components of a mixture can be separated from each other based on differences in their sizes with the help of a sieve is called sieving.

Sieve - It is a small utensil made up of small holes of the same size or a mesh made from metal wires that allow only components or substances smaller than the size of holes or mesh.

Examples of sieving:

  1. In daily life - Fine flour is separated from coarse flour with the help of a sieve.
  2. In construction - Stones and pebbles are separated from the sand by passing the mixture through a sieve, the sand passes through it, and stones and pebbles are separated.
