Describe structure, location and functions of cuboidal epithelium.
Structure:
The cuboidal epithelium is composed of epithelial cells that are cube-like. They have centrally placed nucleus. The cells lie on non-cellular basement membrane.
Location:
The cuboidal epithelium is found in tubular part of nephron of kidney, in some glandular ducts like salivary duct, pancreatic duct.
Function:
Cuboidal epithelium helps mainly in secretion and absorption. It also provides mechanical support.
