  • After the Battle of Plassey, Robert Clive appointed Mir Jafar as the new Nawab of Bengal. But he soon went against the British. So he was dethroned by the British and was replaced by Mir Qasim
  • The Company also started having problems with Mir Qasim due to non-payment of taxes. But he was easily overpowered by the Company in a battle. So Mir Qasim reorganized his army along with the forces of Nawab of Oudh, Shuja-ud-Daulah and Mughal Emperor Shah Alam II and waged war against the Company
  • The British East India Company won the war. As a result Bengal, Avadh (Lucknow) and the Mughal Empire came under the control of the Company
