Functions

  1. This metabolically active organ carries out some vital functions, some of its primary functions are as follows:
    1. Carries out the metabolism of proteins, fats, and carbohydrates.
    2. It produces and excretes bile.
    3. It is responsible for the metabolism of cholesterol, bilirubin, drugs, and hormones.
    4. It stores vitamins, minerals, and glycogen.
    5. It is responsible to synthesize plasma proteins, namely albumin and the clotting factors.
    6. It detoxifies the blood and purifies it.
