Three important applications of thermal insulators from our daily life:
Slabs of ice are covered with a thermally insulating material like gunny bags or sawdust. So that ice doesn't melt easily.
Eskimos make their houses called igloos out of snow. As snow contains a large amount of trapped air which acts as an insulator. Hence heat from within the igloo doesn't flow.
Birds often puff off their feathers in winter. By doing so they trap a large amount of air which acts as an insulator.
