Difference between barren land and waste land

The difference between barren land and waste land is as follows:-

1. Barren land is the land which cannot be used for cultivation such as hilly terrains while waste land is the land which is left fallow from long time.
2. Barren land cant be cultivated with normal technology while waste land can be brought under cultivation after improving it.
