differences between blood clotting and thrombosis?

When any of the blood vessels gets damaged due to cut or an injury the platelets and the fibrin molecules coagulate together to prevent further blood loss, this phenomenon of blood coagulation is known as blood clotting. When this blood clotting takes place inside the blood vessels it is known as thrombosis.
