Differentiate between biodegradable and non-biodegradable wastes by giving examples of each.

Biodegradable waste- Microbes break down and disintegrate biodegradable trash. Biodegradable trash, for example, can disintegrate organically, through the composting process.

Non-biodegradable waste- Microbes cannot break down non-biodegradable trash and can be recycled.

  1. Biodegradable wastes are biological in origin and are known as natural wastes.
  2. They can be decomposed by the micro-organisms or the decomposers present in the environment.
  3. They do not cause pollution.
  4. Eg. vegetable wastes.
