Exocrine glands are those glands that pour their secretions on to the
epithelial surface, directly or through ducts. For example, sweat gland.
On the other hand,
endocrine glands are those glands which lose all contact with the
epitheial surface from which they develop. They pour their secretions
(called hormones) into blood, so that these secretions circulate
throughout the body and utilized by specific target tissues. For example, pituitary gland.
