Exophthalmic goitre:
Exophthalmic goitre is due to secretion of more thyroxine. It is a form of hyperthyroidism that results in increased basal metabolic rate, weight loss, protruding eyes.

Iodine deficiency goitre:
Iodine deficiency goitre (also known as simple goitre) is caused due to the lack of dietary iodine. Lack of iodine results in a lack of maturation of thyroid hormones and results in hypothyroidism.
