  1. Non-communicable disease: These diseases do not spread from patient to healthy person.
  2. Communicable disease: These diseases spread from diseased persons to healthy people.

They may be caused due to nutritional deficiency, old age, malfunctioning of an organ, allergy, pollution, or genetic disorders.They are caused due to infection with microorganisms ( Viruses, bacteria, fungi, protozoa, and worms).
They are also called non-infectious diseases.They are also called infectious diseases.
The spreading agent is not needed.Some spreading agent is needed to spread the microbes or pathogens.
Examples: Marasmus, Kwashiorkor, Anaemia, rickets, scurvy, goitre, haemophilia, thalassaemia, blood pressure, heart disease, arthritis, allergy etc.Examples: Smallpox, chickenpox, pneumonia, common cold, influenza, dysentery, cholera, typhoid, tuberculosis.
