Question

Differentiate between seminiferous tubules and Leydig cells.

Open in App
Solution

Seminiferous tubules are tiny, highly convoluted tubules present in the testis. The basement membrane of these tubules is lined by highly specialised cells called spermatogonia and the spermatozoa occupy the central part of the lumen of the seminiferous tubule. On the other hand, leydig cells are present in between the seminiferous tubules. These cells secrete the male hormone, testosterone.
