Solution
Blood platelets are also called thrombocytes. Platelets are the components of blood produced from megakaryocytes (special cells in bone marrow). They are devoid of nucleus and release a variety of substances which are involved in the clotting of blood. Blood normally contains 1,50,000-3,50,000 platelets per millimetre cube.
Blood group is a classification of blood based on the presence or absence of antibodies and inherited antigenic substances on the surface of RBCs. ABO grouping of blood is the best known system of blood grouping.
