Solution

Vasopressin:

  1. Vasopressin hormone is secreted by the posterior pituitary.
  2. It is also known as the antidiuretic hormone(ADH).
  3. It maintains the water balance in blood by increased reabsorption of water in the collecting duct and distal convoluted tubule of nephrons.

Insulin:

  1. Insulin is secreted by beta-cells of pancreatic islets.
  2. It decreases the blood glucose level by promoting glycogenesis (conversion of glucose into glycogen).
  3. By the action of insulin, excess blood glucose is stored as glycogen in the liver and skeletal muscle.

Vasopressin

Insulin

  1. Diabetes insipidus is a disorder that occurs due to the hyposecretion of vasopressin(ADH) hormone.
  2. A large volume of urine is produced due to the deficiency of vasopressin.
  1. Diabetes mellitus is a disorder that occurs due to the reduced secretion of insulin hormone from beta-cells of the pancreatic islets.
  2. Blood glucose level is increased due to the reduced secretion of insulin.
