Lower House Upper House
It is also known as Vidhan Sabha or State Legislative Assembly. It is also known as Vidhan Parishad or State Legislative Council.
The members of this house are directly elected by the citizens of the state. The members of this house are indirectly elected.
The members of this house serve for a term of 5 years. The members of this house serve for a term of 6 years.
They always have more members as compared to the upper house. The number of members can not exceed one-third of the membership of the legislative assembly.
The minimum qualifying age to be a member of legislative assembly (MLA) is 25 years. The minimum qualifying age to be a member of legislative council (MLC) is 30 years.
