Competitive inhibitors It works by binding at the active site and prevent the substrate from binding. Their structure is similar to that of the substrate since they are binding at the same site.
They cause Increase in km of an enzyme,Vmax remain unaffected.
Noncompetitive inhibitors They have separate binding sites on the enzyme and can bind the enzyme-substrate complex. However, they can also bind the enzyme when the substrate is not bound.
They cause Decrease in Vmax, km remain unaffected.
Uncompetitive inhibitors They have a separate binding site on the enzyme. They only bind to the enzyme when a substrate is bound to the enzyme.
They cause Decrease in Vmax, Decreasein Km
