  1. Current travels from positive ions to negative ions, as we all know.
  2. Positive ions are found at higher potential, whereas negative ions are found at lower potential.
  3. Furthermore, electrons travel from negative to positive, whereas current flows in the other manner.
  4. As a result, the current is flowing from high to low potential.

Hence, for the given direction both assertion and reason are true but the reason is not the correct explanation of assertion.
