• Method of representing the height on the map by using contour lines is called contouring.
• By using this method we are representing the 3-D reliefs on a flat map.
• contour lines are used to represent the shape, height and the slope.
• If the lines are widely spaced then it is a gentle slope. And if the lines are closely spaced then it is a steep slope
