Discuss the greenhouse effect of glass.

Solution

Greenhouse Effect of Glass:

The property of glass to let the short wavelength radiation pass through and restrict the long wavelength radiation creates a greenhouse effect.

The sunlight comes inside a glass box with a short wavelength, but after reflection, the wavelength increases; therefore, the sunlight does not pass through the glass again after entering the box.

The longer wavelength is the infrared radiation which creates a higher temperature environment in the box. This higher temperature environment is known as a greenhouse.
