Adolescence:

  1. The period of life, when the body undergoes changes, leading to reproductive maturity, is called adolescence.
  2. This is the time span in which the child develops into an adult.
  3. Adolescence begins around the age of 11 and goes on until 18 or 19 years of age.
  4. Adolescents are also called ‘teenagers’.
  5. The body at this stage undergoes important changes and these mark the period of puberty.

Problems associated with adolescence-

  1. Boys and girls at this stage become too conscious and they worry about the growth in various parts of their body.
  2. They start finding faults in them and develop a complex.
  3. Although a juvenile age, they start worrying about the future.
  4. They like to remain in their group of friends as they feel safe.
  5. This is a crucial age, as adolescence brings with it emotional and psychological changes.
