circle = 8 cm

length of chord AB = 12 cm

Given OC = 8 cm

AB = 12 cm

$AC=6cm$ $(AC=\frac{AB}{2})$

$OA=\sqrt{(OC{)}^2+(AC{)}^2}$

$=\sqrt{(8{)}^2+(6{)}^2}$

$=\sqrt{(10{)}^2}=10cm$ (radius)

Diameter of circle $=2r$

$=2\left(10\right)$

$=20cm$
