Distinguish between :-
(a) Single lines stores and departmental stores.
(b) Street traders and street shops.
(a) Single line store and departmental stores: Single line are small-scale fixed retail shops dealing in one line of products only. They are generally situated in market places or commercial areas whereas departmental stones are large scale fixed retail stores having a number of departments under one roof, each department specialising in one line of product. They are located at a central place.
(b) Street traders and street shops: Street traders are itinerant retailers who generally operate near public places such as railway stations, street corners etc. Dealing in low priced articles of everyday use. They display their goods on busy street corners, pavements and so on. Whereas street shops are small-scale fixed retail shops situated at street crossings or on main roads or corners of colonies, the stalls are set up fixing shelves on a wall or placing a table or making a platform to display their products they deal in wide variety of low priced articles like bread, butter station, any toys and so on.
