Distinguished between a plane mirror, concave mirror and convex mirror without touching them.

To distinguish between the given mirrors, hold them one by one near the face and observe the images formed in them.

  1. If the image is erect and of the same size on moving the mirror then the mirror is a plane mirror.
  2. If the image is erect, enlarged, and becomes inverted on moving the mirror away from the face, then the mirror is a concave mirror.
  3. If the image is erect, diminished, and remains so on moving the mirror away from the face, then the mirror is a convex mirror.
