No, the boys and girls grow at different rates. In girls, the puberty occurs earlier than boys. That is why during the early adolescent years, the girls are taller than boys. However, the growth spurt in girls is shorter than that of boys so right after the start of the menstrual cycle, the growth on girls gets slower than the growth in boys. The basal metabolic rate of boys and girls differ that acoounts of dfference in the growth rate.
