  • Some air pollutants mixes with the atmospheric water that in turn mix with the water bodies. This causes harmful and lethal effect to the aquatic life. (1 mark)
  • Nitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide reacts to atmospheric water to produce nitric acid and sulphuric acid. This causes acid rain. (1 mark)
  • Various pesticides and herbicides are sprayed in the farms and fields for agriculture. During spraying these toxic organic compounds mixed into the air. With rain these pesticides and herbicides mixed into the water bodies and make them toxic, which is very harmful for the aquatic living beings. (1 mark)
