Yes, Home made food or any food with limited moisture and sufficient sugars availability and antibacterial, anti fungal agents are absent, surely home made food will get rotten with in hours. Because air is having plenty of microorganisms which are sprinkled everywhere. there is a chance to contaminate food.
So under preservation we can preserve at low temperature, or acids like vinegar and covering the food material will help limited time to create bacterial free environment and not to get rotten.
