Solution

Human Brain

  1. The human brain is in charge of almost every aspect of the human body, from physiological functions to cognitive capacities.
  2. It works by receiving and delivering impulses to various parts of the body via neurons.

The labeled structure of the human brain:

Parts of the brain:

Forebrain

  1. It is the thinking part of the brain.
  2. It consists of the olfactory lobes, portions of the cerebrum, the thalamus, and the hypothalamus.

Midbrain:

  1. The bottom part of the brain is called the midbrain.
  2. It has optic lobes: center of vision, cerebral peduncle, and pineal gland.

Hindbrain:

  1. The hindbrain is the last portion of the brain.
  2. It serves as the brain's foundation.
  3. It contains the cerebellum, the pons, and the medulla oblongata.

The functions of the three parts of the brain are as follows:

  1. Forebrain: It has sections for receiving sensory impulses from diverse receptors distributed throughout the body.
  2. Some parts of the forebrain are specialized for senses such as sight/vision, hearing, and smell.
  3. It is the part of the brain controlling the movement of voluntary muscles, such as the movement of the leg or hand.
  4. Midbrain: It deals with auditory, voluntary action, and visual analysis.
  5. Hindbrain: Cerebellum is for coordination and accurate movement, precision, and balancing, such as riding a bicycle, walking in a straight line, maintaining a straight posture, and balancing the body.
  6. Pons regulate respiration.
  7. The medulla is responsible for involuntary actions such as blood pressure, sneezing, swallowing food, salivation, etc.
